A dive into AI girl group V

In 2020, GBK Entertainment announced their plans to debut an AI girl group. CEO Kim Gyee Bong explained at the November 2020 Knock conference "Project V" came to be after he noticed a decrease in the number of people wanting to be idols. He also explained that the advantage of an AI idol would be that they never grow old, will always be idols, and do not have any health concerns.

While still having to work on the actual characters, earlier that year the company had already put together a highlight medley for their intended debut album. The medley included five songs: "CAT!", "Fix U", title track "First Love", "My Mom Will Scold Me", and "My Red Face".

The first four songs were sung by singer-songwriter Boran, who is mostly known for writing songs and/or providing backing vocals for idols such as Saturday, Yukika, GIRLKIND, SKYLEJo Yuri, and most recently Kep1er. The songs included in the medley seem to be songs that did not make it onto her "Treasure Island" mini album released earlier in 2020.

The final song in the medley was the intended debut song of GBK's pre-debut disbanded girl group Maskot called "My Red Face". Maskot were supposed to make their debut in March in 2012, but after an initial postponement to September of the same year, had their debut cancelled. They did release the pre-debut single "Mask Of T" in February of 2012.

The lastest news on V stems from December of 2021. That month GBK Entertainment uploaded a video on the design process of Duna (in the above picture, second picture on the left).

No updates have since been made available on the progress of the project.
