SAI Entertainment addresses CA in "Dance with God"

On February 20, SAI Entertainment released a statement regarding the cultural appropriation in the music video for CRAXY's upcoming comeback with "Dance with God".

"Hello. This is SAI Entertainment.
We thank our fans for your love and support for CRAXY's new album "Dance with God". In the music video of "Dance with God" Karin's hair style was selected as according to the concept of the song and there was no intention of disparaging the culture of other countries. We have become fully aware of the concern since Dance with God teaser 1 has been released. We would like to inform you that we will change Karin's hair style to reflect the fans opinions during the upcoming activities. And from now on we, SAI Entertainment will try our best to fully review and check the historical backgrounds, characteristics, and the cultures in the production process. We will not create issues that were not intended or expected.
However, we ask for your understanding that it is not possible to edit and modify the hairstyle of Karin in the music video, we did reshoot the photo albums and other contents with changing the hair style. We will take this as an opportunity to pay more attention to the racial, historical, and cultural issues in future contents that we release.
Thank you for your understanding."

As mentioned in the statement, the cultural appropriation was first brought up by fans when the first music video teaser was released in September of 2021, where Karin can be seen wearing dreadlocks. Initially, the company privated the teaser, while asking fans on Twitter for their feedback (this post has since been deleted). Following up on October 6, CRAXY's co-producer, Glenn Alinksie, took the group's Twitter account and posted an apology video, stating that they had no intentions of offending anyone and that the hairstyle Karin was wearing was based on a mixture of Indonesian mythology and Chinese philosophy.

The teaser was subsequently made public again.

This new statement was released one day before the release of the group's second music video teaser, likely to inform fans beforehand that the same hairstyle can be seen in the teaser again.
